Eli and Emily are both broken in different ways yet in very similar ways, they don’t want to be hurt ever again so when Eli knows he is attracted to her, he tries to step away as much as he can, and Emily doesn’t think a guy like him would ever consider a girl like her. Emily has finally gained her freedom from an emotionally abusive relationship, she seems weak and fragile at first but what I love is throughout this book with the help of the crew of Wishbone, she finds a family and a backbone to stand up for herself. This group of family/friends are highly entertaining, loving, and have each other’s backs no matter what. It doesn’t take them long at all to see the kindness in Emily and bring her into their fold. Eli is amazing, he takes care of those he loves with a fierceness and has been hurt in the past but tries to make the best of it as he can. This is the first book by this author I have read, and I will say this was an amazing journey that sucked me in and made me want to be part of this group. I also enjoyed how we got little snippets of thoughts from the other characters, it didn’t cause any confusion, it added so much more to the story. I absolutely hope we get a book for Dean because his story will be heartbreakingly beautiful with a beautiful man!!!… (meer)
