Book two is a great continuation of the story of Laine Elder, a tough young woman who fiercely loves her Appalachian mountain home. It is filled with humor, excitement and a cast of characters that truly feel like neighbors. The ending is a bit abrupt, but knowing there are two more books in this series, it makes me only want to begin the next one.

I would give this more than 5 stars if I could. This was a fantastic novel about a girl growing up in Appalachia. Colorful characters and great storytelling. I can't wait to read the sequel and all her other books.
