I didn't finish reading this as I don't like that it isn't clear what they are teaching, or rather that they are trying to please different people who hold different beliefs but they don't say what they think.

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Not only was this the perfect devotional for its age group, it was a superhero primer! Only since the Marvel and DC comics have become major blockbusters did I follow what was going on in these fictional worlds, but the backstories often eluded me. Since reading this book, I've gained so much more knowledge of each character and where they come from and I no longer feel like a novice. The language in this book is easy to follow and understand while getting across complex concepts of faith and God's grace. While perfect for late elementary to early middle-schoolers, it's also a great crossover to use as a witnessing tool. By correlating popular characters with some of the more obscure Bible figures, even as a mature, older Christian, I learned new stories and new names.

From the moment I started reading to the last page, I loved everything about this fantastic book.

Small things are often the keys to vast treasures.

This devotional has been a real treat to read — sometimes just one short tidbit, other times taking in a number of different readings. The author has taken the well known story of The Hobbit and given us a look at how our Christian lives can mirror many of the things that Bilbo experienced.

Whether you read one a day or several, this is a keeper — one of those books you will go back to and reread many times. Each time you will glean another bit of knowledge about yourself and the world around you.

This copy was received through Barbour Publishing and NetGalley. The impressions and comments given are my own and were in no way solicited.

Some of the information and the archeaological information were good and interesting. What I didn't like were all the different versions the author chose to use which always makes me suspicious. I also didn't like all the Catholic references he used. Is the author confusing Catholocism with Christianity?

On pg 72 the author mentions the trinity and tries to claim the KJV contains a clear declaration of the trinity in 1 John 5:7-8 which refutes his statement in saying.."these three are one." One God. My issue with people mentioning trinity is that it is NOWHERE in the Bible.

On pg 75 the author wrote...Jesus saves us by grace alone and then gave verses to look up. The first Acts 2:37-38 proves the author is incorrect in his statement. The response of what to do was...
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Nowhere in the Bible does it say "grace alone".
