This is a non-fiction book with some great photos and facts about hockey. The My Favorite Sport Series is geared to young children (4 to 8) so they can learn about various sports, this one being football. It is simple with just enough information that it will not overwhelm them. It gives basic rules, equipment and skills. We were watching football when my grandson started asking questions so I read him this book. He was interested in the simple text and the great photographs. I think this is a great book and series for a school library. Of course, once again this is American football, Canadian has a few different rules and facts, but that didn't matter as we often watch American Football. There are many young children who do not want to read fiction and this series would definitely give them something to read as they are developing their skills. It is geared to young children (4 to 8) so they can learn about baseball. It is simple with just enough information that it will not overwhelm them. It gives basic rules, equipment and skills. I think this is a great book and series for a school library. It features both boys and girls as well as different ethnicities. There are many young children who do not want to read fiction and this series would definitely give them something to read as they are developing their skills. This is a non-fiction book with some great photos and facts about skateboarding. This series has several sports already published and they all follow a similar pattern. It is geared to young children (4 to 8) so they can learn about skateboarding. It is simple with just enough information that it will not overwhelm them. It gives basic rules, equipment and skills. I had one major complaint about this book in that it shows a young child learning to skateboard and they are not wearing any protective gear. There is a section devoted to that, but this photo missed the mark. For that reason alone, I deducted one star from my rating. I think this is a great book and series for a school library. It features both boys and girls as well as different ethnicities. There are many young children who do not want to read fiction and this series would definitely give them something to read as they are developing their skills.
