Must have read a review or article about Christian graphic novels and I turned this up in the catalog out of curiosity.

Goofyfoot Gurl Out of the Soup is number four in the series. It’s a story about a group of beach friends who surf, play volleyball and deal with problems together. The pictures tell the story with few words of conversation. It’s an easy read with a feel good ending.

I prefer a story to this comic book form. I think these books are a good in for students who aren’t so excited about reading books.

This is a book for preteens, early teens and would be a good jump start for conversations about friendship, relationship issues and integrity. I would encourage students to do some journaling of their own with pictures to tell the story.

Serenity is definitely in need of kindness. The kids in the Youth Group are putting into practice what their faith teaches and loving the unlovable. Chapter and Verse section at end of book cites scripture that influenced the kids' actions.

Editorial Reviews

Book Description
Her leg's in a cast, the power's out, and Serenity is bored stiff. Reluctantly, she picks up the Bible she received when she first visited the Prayer Club-and soon loses herself in the Word of God. Before long, she's pestering her friends with spiritual questions. Is this the dawning of faith for the troubled teen who's made life so interesting for the Christian kids of James A. Madison High? The sixth and final title in the introductory Serenity series brings the blue-haired "bad girl" to a crossroads-and tween and teen girls will want to know what she decides.
