When I read the Summary of A Man Called Ove I was reminded of bygone-university-days when I had to read Cliff's notes for a fast tutorial to help with an overload of reading assignments. I read A Man Called Ove for enjoyment and The Summary was a pleasant surprise. It helped deepen my understanding and appreciation of the novel.
I enjoyed the audio version of A Man Called Ove so much that I read the book and watched the video, too. It would have been easy to speed-read through the novel and dismiss it as an easy piece with an almost child-like quality. But...the themes of aging, loss, loneliness and depression hung around in my thoughts along with questions about personal integrity. The Summary helped me review the characters and chapters in an organized way without getting in the way. I had tried to read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle several times in the past---without success. Each time there were blocks to understanding the seemingly simple concepts. I couldn't get far without reading and re-reading passages. I thought Summary of The Power of Now would be a quick and easy route to mastery. I was wrong. Speaking for myself: the subject matter was still deep and each concept still required reflection and immersion into the past and future before glimpsing the Now. I really wanted to understand the material.
The Summary provides a very good outline and condensation of the book, but there are no quick fixes to comprehension and the Summary does not cheat. The good news is that I was able to finish reading the Summary of The Power of Now and that I have a good idea of the structure and major concepts of the book. I think it also helped me to discover what my blocks were. With these "guideposts" in place, I feel ready to read The Power Now again.… (meer)

The Power of Now is an important, timeless book deserving reading, rereading and reflection. CompanionBooks summary of the book is going to be so helpful to readers and rereaders. Why? The ten chapters have hot links in the kindle edition to take you to the specific topic within that chapter. Information is clearly summarized. The fourteen discussion questions at the end are excellent for group discussion but also can be seen as personal reflection questions. I read the book when it came out in either 1999 or 2000 and this summary makes me aware I need to read it again, as with aging and life experiences, I need to seriously reflect on the content again. This summary of Tools of Titans is so useful when you consider the actual book is about 700 pages. Quickly and concisely you get a summary of the advice of people, many the reader probably has not heard of before and it is exactly those ones you need to know about. Maybe you do not want to read advice about exercise or business practice and this guide helps you to pick and choose what you do want to read and savor, maybe skim read or skip over all together. The conclusion of the CompanionReads summary says there are various lists given in the actual book which alone entice me to read that part. The active Table of Contents allow you to go directly to the person covered in the book which will be very handy for rereading. I had not considered reading Tools of Titans before reading the CompanionReads summary, but now I want to selectively read it with the summary's help.
