Mugshots of morphine fiends, vagrants, floaters, and small fry crooks, taken from the original glass negatives, circa 1905-1908. They were taken by a Mrs. C.S. Smith, who, in addition to snapping rogues for local law enforcement, took children's photographs; indeed, most of the time, she used the same backdrop for both.

Delightful! I've never been so happy with a book that basically has no words in it.

My favorite book about parrots dressed up in costumes and re-enacting famous scenes from popular culture. You must read the introduction, th history of the photographs is really interesting, starting in Elizabeth Taylor's Attic

I wanted this book mainly because it is a whimsical book to have on one's bookshelves, and I'm a whimsical sort of girl. Full of beautiful and endearing photographs of sock monkeys, this book is a very heart-warming view of the creatures many of us had in our childhood bedrooms. The cutesie stories from select celebrities was an added kick in the pants.

I would have liked to have written a story about one of the sock monkeys.

A very sweet book.
