This is the fourth book in the Kate Stanton series, but it is the first one I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and do not feel that I missed anything not reading the previous ones.

The Crossing at Blaisdell Park was a huge box office hit and the sequel is now in production. Finn, the director, wrote the movie based on his ancestor's story. Diane, his wife is teaching acting classes where Karen is honing her craft. Kate, whose song from her years with the Paisley's, received aclaim after being used in The Crossing and she is receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her husband, Paul, is the producer of both movies and her daughter Eve is trying to sell Finn and Diane's house. There are several murders, which John, Eve's boyfriend, is trying to solve and they all seem to tie into the movie and/or Diane in some way. Who is killing these people and why? Who else is in danger? Can past sins come back to haunt the rich and powerful in Hollywood? This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I will definitely keep my eyes out for the others in this series.

I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my rating in any way.

This book has it all, a little romance, some suspense, and quite a bit "I never saw that coming". It is a combination cozy mystery and suspense/romance, which makes it a great book for all three genres of readers. This story entwines the lives of Libby, her sister Mia, the couple that helped Libby through a horrible time in her life, and Rebecca a mother trying to understand what happened to her daughter.

No Hard Feelings (A Kate Stanton Mystery) by Marta Tandori

Liz Farrell is still grieving the loss of her mother, who was murdered by her father Leo Bauer. She is shocked to find that she inherited his wealthy estate. Trying to find closure for her Mothers murder she comes across a hidden bunker and what she finds is horrifying. Liz and her grandmother Kate decide they want to find the truth, whatever it may be. What they find out is not what they were expecting.

A thrilling page turning all night read. I really liked Liz and her grandmother. The story was great. Filled with suspense and secrets. I recommend to those who enjoy murder/thriller/drama stories.

Libby is the manager of a hotel in Florida, and decides to let the couple (secretly) stay in one of the rooms. Beverly sees something, but with her state of mind is not sure what happened. Beverly doesn't realize she is in danger, and she just witnessed a crime.

Then Rebecca Kendall, an attorney from Seattle shows up to investigate the murder of her nineteen year old daughter. Also Mia, Beverly's younger sister, comes to town to investigate a story regarding a sunken treasure.

Soon Beverly and Mia are working together to solve a mystery. People are ending up dead. Together the two are determined to find the truth. Can the dead girl, and the crime Beverly witnessed somehow be connected?

A fast paced murder/mystery. Set in Florida (a great location). There is suspense, drug dealers and family secrets. The story is original, the characters are likable an the plot is interesting and kept me guessing. I feel those who love a good who-done-it will enjoy Turn A Blind Eye.

This story is about multi generations of a family for whom tragedy and perversion surface far too frequently. There is a large cast and often it is hard to remember relationships particularly since some names change. The timeline seems to have some peculiar jumps but all in all it is an interesting story.

Ethan is kidnapped in New York and based on an anonymous tip, the feds descend on Annie's restaurant in Savannah. A long deceased body is found in a bricked off part of the restaurant and the plot moves into the past. I thought this book was way too slow. There were too many characters and if was difficult to get to know any of them. The modern day plot was completely unnecessary and was not fully flushed out. Overall, a bust.

This is a page-turning mystery, heaped with history and intrigue. The novel brings a deeper more thought-provoking glimpse to the immigrants’ arrival at Ellis Island, the immigrants’ tenuous survival in the tenements of New York, and to the American railway system built through the endurance of men and women with meager equipment and tools that is almost too difficult to comprehend and more realistic than in any U.S. history book. It could also be portrayed as a genealogical study of the du Maurier family. It could also be portrayed as the romance novel that brings the quotation to life – “Behind every successful man, there is a strong, wise and hardworking woman.”

I’d also like to note that the cover art and the formatting of the paragraphs within each chapter were definite features which added to my total pleasure of enjoyment of this novel. I learned by reading online an interview with the author that the cover art was designed by a company in Poland called Formatting Experts. The front cover art perfectly captures the dual aspects of the story from New York to Savannah, Georgia and the expression on the little boy’s face draws the reader’s attention instantly. The back cover is haunting with the photographic shadows behind the book’s description. As one reads the opening chapter, your heart is then captured by Ethan’s desire for a Big Surprise – “bigger than his birthday and Christmas all rolled into one, he’d been told.”

Chapters of the novel are sometimes told from Present Day and sometimes share the past history from 1905. It was interesting to read a mystery unfolding with a kidnapping without emphasis on law enforcement participation or for the case to be solved by a private detective. But don’t discount Annie Eastwood – former documentary researcher at CNN – and now owner of The Bean and Pole in Savannah, Georgia. Annie has transformed an old historic building into an eatery / souvenir shop. Imagine her shock when the FBI intrudes on her opening night.

There is an ensemble cast of characters and a variety of settings from northern to southern shores. Sometimes when there is such a large cast of characters particularly in a stand-alone novel as opposed to the gradual entrance of characters in a series, I have been unable to keep each of the characters in mind or to keep their role in the story in mind but not with this read. The characters are strong and distinct and some have a willful disregard for the rules and/or laws especially if there is money to be made. Geez! Sound like any of the recent headlines? I couldn’t put this novel down and read it in one day on vacation. It is not to be missed!
I was lucky to find this interview with the author online after reading the novel. I would highly recommend reading the interview too! http://literalexposure.com/2013/09/12/interview-with-marta-tandori-author-of-con...

*I received this book for an honest review from the author.*
Where do I begin? I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was nervous at first reading this because I was thinking it would be a lot more history oriented, but the amount of history in the book was perfect. I enjoyed Marta Tandori’s writing style so very much. Everything flowed together so well and it kept me intrigued as I turned each page (well as I my Kindle turned the page).
Each and every paragraph added more and more into the book. I do not think there was a paragraph that was there and had no importance. You know how in some books there are pages/chapters that are there just for fillers – not in Last Stop Klindenspiel. Each paragraph was perfect and I think that’s why I enjoyed this book so much. I learned so much throughout the first few chapters and I liked that. I didn’t have to wait for it to get good…it started off that way.
The book had me on my toes – I never knew where it was going to go. Surprise after surprise hidden among many of the pages (although I predicted one of them). There is loads of heart-break, struggle, angst, and death…but there is also love, desire, happiness, and relief. I loved how there were so many emotions throughout the book and it kept my heart going on so many roller-coasters.
I was on the fence about whether to rate the book with just 4.5 or move it on up to a five. The only read I wanted to bring it down is because I wanted more and the other books that go along with this book do not seem to give me the more that I want. But, then I thought, I am judging on this book and this book alone and I immediately chose the 5 stars.

What a touching read! Katya went through so much in her life with her mother being a Norwegian and her father, a Nazi! Would she eventualy find peace? Who was Karel Bauer and Ivan Jaworski? What happened to all the stolen art and money? Were war criminals involved? After reading this, you will know all the answers!

Evil comes in many forms, and Kate Stanton has seen it all.

What happens to the Lebensborn Children, the product of Hitler’s perfect race after the war was over? Ask Katya Holberg, or I should say, Kate Stanton. Born to a beautiful Norwegian mother, Sonja, and Karl, a high ranking officer for the Third Reich, Katya’s life is destroyed the day the allies liberate the concentration camp that Katya’s father runs. Life is now a living hell, and one by one, Katya loses everything and everyone she loves tragically until she ends up a captive of Klindenspiel.

Katya has no idea what happened to her father; her mother died brutally, her body desecrated, after doing everything she could to make sure her daughters were safe, and her precious little sister Lilly, beaten to death before her eyes. Hoping to find safety living with her grandmother in Norway was a lost cause. To her grandmother’s neighbors, Katya represented evil, and threats were made against both their lives. Because of the acrobatic training Katya had received from her mother, her grandmother decides that the safest place for her is Klindenspiel, known to the public as the elite school for students gifted enough to be circus stars. To outsiders, the children are happy and well taken care of; but to Katya, it is not much better than the internment camp of times past. Even now she fears that there is no one in whom she can trust. Katya’s talent as a contortionist leads her to the top of class, making her the female star attraction, which puts in a position she wants nothing of. Afraid to trust anyone, what kind of future will Katya have, if any? Everyday a new evil knocks on her door, until the day her past crushes the door down.

This book is a great wake up call for today’s youth; my niece thinks the world is going to end because the battery died on her mp3 player. Though filled with horrific representations of what these children went through, it is no more graphic than Hunger Games, and I feel sends a much better message. Youth or adult – it is well worth the read. Look for the rest of the Kate Stanton series at Amazon. Great job, again, Marta Tandori!!

This is a combination book, cozy mystery, romance, and suspense/thriller. I am not sure that is not just too much for one book. The storyline is rather complex and there are lots of divergent but relater sub-plots. As I read the book, I sometimes had to stop to think about just who was who and what was going on with this and other characters and whether there was any tie-in with the basic story or whether that was yet to come. I only gave it four stars because of that. I think, if the reader likes one of these genres, they could find the book interesting but could also find the book a bit much like I did. The basic story line involves staff at a resort in Florida, who are involved in a variety of things besides their basic jobs: helping a less fortunate couple, drugs, possible murder, to name a few. The writing is well done, though can be overpowered by trying to figure out what exactly was going on and how it all relates. Character development was also well done. I personally think there could have been better developed romance in the story, but I am a romantic at heart. I did enjoy reading the book, and the ending was somewhat of a surprise (one more little sub-plot that crept in at the last moment). I think anyone who is looking for a book that will surprise him/her with all that it has would enjoy this one. Just be ready for something that looks like the author tried (and succeeded for the most part) to include anything and everything in the way of different genres. I received this from Library Thing to read and honestly review.

Amanda Nixon has been friends with Kate Stanton for years but Kate doesn't know the truth about her. Amanda has lived in fear for her life for as long as she can remember thanks to Cade Hardy. Liz Farrell now has a family along with an inheritance from Leo Bauer and Sigourney Weaver Bauer. While Liz is taking a tour of the property a gruesome discovery was made~a skeleton was found. Liz only wants the whole thing would go away but that isn't likely to happen any time soon. Someone is killing people leaving the calling card "NO Hard Feelings" which baffles the police. Will Liz accept her inheritance? Will Amanda stop running from her past? Who is the killer? Your answers await you in NO Hard Feelings.

This book picks up right where Too Little, Too Late ends. Just when I thought Leo Bauer couldn't get sicker I'm proven wrong. I thought the story and characters were well written, honest, real, and flawed too. I do like the author's writing style. I will continue to read more of this author's work in the future.

Turn A Blind Eye by: Marta Tandori
5 STAR

Kudos, Ms. Tandori. . .

Turn A Blind Eye has it all; a little romance, some suspense, and quite a lot of "I never saw that coming".
It is a combination cozy mystery and suspense/romance, which I found quite delightful, a must read for all who love these three genres.

This story entwines the lives of Libby, her sister Mia and her love interest, Dain - a salvage hunter off the coast of the Florida Keys, Jack and Beverly Donelly -

the older couple that helped Libby through a horrible time in her life, and Rebecca a mother trying to understand what happened to her daughter. Add to the cast

of characters - a drug cartel - missing drugs - a cold-blooded hit man. . . and even an innocent Amish family caught up in the middle of drug smuggling.

Ms. Tandori has a great talent for creating suspense, and the story is a whirlwind of subtle dramas that come together well.
The twists are timed well and the need to know just what is going to happen next makes this a good one for mystery lovers, the suspense is awesome.

From page one - until the very end - Ms. Tandori has a way of lending details to the story that make it impossible for the reader to put the book down.
Be prepared to stay up late - you won't want to stop reading - you won't be able to stop reading.

This was a very interesting read with many genres. There was compassion, love, mystery, and intrigue. The characters were very well written into the storyline and easy to follow. Libby helped Jack and Beverly when they needed her but was Beverly telling the truth or was her dementia "talking?

First, a little background as to how I came to read “Too Little, Too Late”…
I read “No Hard Feelings” as my first introduction to a novel by Marta Tandori. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a page-turning, suspense-filled independent mystery. The novel captivated me as a reader. It also reminded me that there are moments in life when you meet individuals that are new acquaintances to you but you can immediately tell that these same individuals have known each other for a long time when you see them exchange a meaningful glance or hear part of their shared conversation that almost seems as though it is spoken in a code only they can understand. You can tell that they share history and have deep respect and love for one another. As I was reading the conversations between Kate and her daughter Eve, Eve and the detective, Eve and daughter Karen and niece Liz, Kate with Karen and Liz, I found myself wishing that I had read “Too Little, Too Late” first but it didn’t detract my appreciation of the sequel. It only intrigued me all the more in wishing to spend more time with all of the characters as introduced by the author.

Reading “Too Little, Too Late” answered so many questions. But beyond that I have to remind you again that I thought “No Hard Feelings” was a page-turner. So to now describe the experience of reading “Too Little, Too Late”, I either have to create a brand new term for the phrase ‘page-turner’ or at the very least I should totally spell out the entire definition of a ‘page-turner’. The definition absolutely must equal the adjectives of gripping, exciting, thriller, rapid-fire action, the power of suspense, add in some HCM – Heart-Clutching Moments (and I can’t take credit for this term), and compelling plot. The whole of that definition becomes the extraordinary “Too Little, Too Late”.

As part of the description for Writer’s Digest “Boot Camp”, it is shared that…
“Today’s best novels make readers so desperate to know what happens next that they’ll stay up reading well past midnight, blistering thumbs and all, until THE END. Then and only then will they be able to relax, their souls flooded with satisfaction, relief and peace. Only to be followed—ideally!—by a gnawing sense of unfulfillment, anxiety and a compulsion to read more books by you.”

The Writer’s Digest description fully describes the novel “Too Little, Too Late.” A review of “Too Little, Too Late” would be incomplete without mention of the explicit language and graphic sexual content. It is not shared to label the novel or to prevent a reader from the discovery and exploration of this novel and series but to contribute to the understanding that the use is not for the purposes of eroticism but to contribute to the reader’s true experience and empathy of the characters within this absorbing and unforgettable plot that encompasses history of old Hollywood and family history back to Hitler’s desire to create the ‘ultimate race’.

I am a former librarian and I do not believe in censorship. “Too Little, Too Late” is the opening of a series that I would highly recommend to adult readers. One of the reasons I love to read is because novels have the capacity to take me beyond my own life experiences, to present history in contemporary settings, to widen my understanding of human nature and of human sacrifice, to listen to voices beyond my family, my friends, my coworkers, to challenge my thoughts and expressions, to broaden my world. “Too Little, Too Late” is a novel that immersed my concentration in a time in history that is difficult to comprehend and then brings me forward to contemporary days. It is not a delicate walk but it is a meaningful walk and I am richer in thought, in empathy, in compassion, in understanding for having read the novel as part of my life journey.

Reading this novel was my first introduction to the writing by author Marta Tandori. In order to acquaint myself to the author before reading the novel, I briefly visited the Facebook page of “Marta Tandori Author”. As introduction for the “About” section, it says, “Writer of women's suspense: strong female protagonists with closets full of nasty skeletons and the odd murder or two.” I couldn’t wait to begin reading this novel.

It is my understanding that the title of “No Hard Feelings” is a sequel as requested by readers to the title, “Too Little, Too Late”. In answer to multiple fan requests, the author decided to create the Kate Stanton Mystery Series based on the characters from the book. The new title, “No Hard Feelings” features Kate Stanton, the feisty and successful semi-retired real estate broker and her new granddaughter, Liz Farrell.

Although this book is a sequel, I thoroughly enjoyed it as a page-turning, suspense-filled independent mystery. There are some sequels and books in a series that cannot be read independently or “out of order”. There are also some sequels and books in a series where the author takes valuable space in the new title to reiterate character history and/or plot history. I am thrilled to share that Marta Tandori does neither. The novel captivates the reader as it blossoms like a flower from beautiful bud to exquisite and multi-layered petals. It reminds me that there are moments in life when you meet individuals that are new acquaintances to you but you can immediately tell that these same individuals have known each other for a long time when you see them exchange a meaningful glance or hear part of their shared conversation that almost seems as though it is spoken in a code only they can understand. You can tell that they share history and have deep respect and love for one another. It only intrigued me all the more in wishing to spend more time with all of the characters as introduced by the author. It will be very exciting to read the original novel, “Too Little, Too Late” and to read the continued development of this series.

I do not include spoilers in my book reviews but must include that the title of “No Hard Feelings” will unfold in a very unique way! I mention it here as it is an extraordinary element of the story and the presentation when used in the novel is outstanding and clever!

One of the conversations between Liz and Karen (see partial quotations below) really made me smile as years after being in 4th grade a few of my classmates and I learned that the reason our class spent sooooo much time on Social Studies with first year teacher, Mr. R.S. was due to his own total delight and interest in the subjects of geography and history and his non-interest in science. Looking back, we realized we didn’t have any science lessons that year. But apparently it all worked out in the end as most of us went forward to have Mr. T.U. for 5th grade and he had the opposite preference so our 5th grade year was filled with science lessons and no social studies lessons. But to this day, I still have an unusual amount of remembrances of statistics and unusual facts about Paraguay and Uruguay, the two (2) countries my team was assigned by Mr. R.S. It made me wonder if Karen had any science lessons in her 6th grade year.

Liz turned to look at her (Karen) in astonishment. “You’re like an encyclopedia. How do you know all this?
Karen grinned, looking slightly shamefaced. “Grade six social studies project.”

I didn't know there was another book before this one as I won it in a Library Thing giveaway and it was the first time I had encountered the characters. I liked the cover art and it made me request it. Unfortunately, due to going in blind, that meant that I spent a lot of the book feeling like I was on the back-foot with regards to plot and character background but I worked it out with the author's help throughout. I'm not sure if I was able to fully appreciate the book as I didn't like the focus on the fake Hollywood lifestyle but it was well written and I believe Marta Tandori is an author to watch. Another drawback for me was that there weren't many really like-able characters or maybe it was just me? I don't know but I didn't feel enough empathy with them. I liked Eve and John though and would have liked a bit more focus on them. I did notice that in the additional teaser for the next book, Karen was the only familiar character featured and again, I don't know if it was just me but she was acting like a real spoilt brat. I didn't really take to her in this book but if she follows that path then she would be unbearable but I guess there has to be a mix of characters in any book. Overall, I didn't dislike it by any means but it wasn't my kind of book.

Kate Stanton remembers all too clearly about death and tragedy. Kate was raped by her own father then had his child Sonja. Sonja is killed in an explosion but Kate has never forgotten. Flash forward years later, a homeless woman carries around a necklace like it's security blanket. Liz Farrell is searching for her homeless mother Maria and not having any luck finding her. Kate Stanton's granddaughter Karen Devane goes to Kate's home to drop off items only to witness a homeless woman beating on her grandmother's mailbox. Then Karen and her friends witness this same woman be hit by a car. Karen is horror struck by what's happened yet no one believes her. What do all of these people have in common? Your answers await you in Too Little, Too Late.

I found this book to be fascinating with switching from past to the present so seamlessly. The characters are rich, bold, complex, and interesting. The story is character driven and complex. It's also page turner for me too. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books like this.

How the kidnapping of the son and heir of New York City real estate tycoon, Alexander du Maurier, and the gruesome discovery in an opening Savannah restaurant are related forms the basis of this interesting story. After the little boy is kidnapped, hundreds of leads about the incident pour in, and police end up looking at this restaurant for some clues. How are they related? The story of this wealthy family spans the book and shows the reader a fascinating and interesting picture of early life for immigrants in the last century or so, after they arrive here in the US. This was not really the book I expected. Still, I found if fascinating and engrossing as the author skillfully tied all the bits and pieces/clues together for the reader. I thought the description were great and right on, based on what I know. I seldom read books that cover this pan of time, as I prefer modern day books, but this one enveloped me from the start. I have not read anything else by the author, but on how well this book was written, I hope to seek out more of her works. This is a good book for the reader who enjoys a good, solid mystery that evolves bit by bit, clue by clue. I received this from Library Thing to read and review.

I found No Hard Feelings to be very enjoyable. This is the second book in the series and I would recommend reading the first one before to have more back story. I thought that it was a fast moving story that keep my attention. The characters were well done and after reading the first book I liked seeing how they were doing. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery. I will look forward to a third book.

I read Continuance by this author and was mesmerized by the story and writing style. So, it was a natural that I would read this book. I was only a bit let down due to the storyline. For me, Continuance was a hard to follow book.

This book has a great cast of characters and a dark but gripping lengthy start to the story. Even better, there is an equally good sequel called No Hard Feelings. This author would have no trouble competing with the so-called mainstream authors. I will make it my mission to read all of Ms. Tandori's writings.

I read Too Little - Too Late before reading this installment of the series and I am glad I did as I benefited tremendously.

There are a lot of characters so the relationships take some time to learn. The characters are well written and generally all have a positive impact on the story. It is best to take your time reading the story as there are a few nuances and it can be easy to think you are reading about a character when the story has shifted to another.

This story is a natural follow-on to Too Little - Too Late with the same character set and family relationships. It is equally enjoyable.

This is the third book I have read by this author and have enjoyed them all. Marta Tandori has great talent and I hope that she continues writing. I particularly enjoyed Continuance which was the first book I read by this talented author.
