Mark S. Thompson

Mark S. Thompson is an independent military historian specialising in the Peninsular War 1808-14. His first publication, The Fatal Hill covered the campaign culminating in the battle of Albuera in May 1811. In 2009, he completed a PhD focusing on the role of the Royal Engineers during this period. toon meer This was published as Wellington's Engineers in 2015. He haspublished several other books and journal articles on the period. He has presented at many conferences in the UK and abroad including the Wellington Congress and is a member of the British Commission for Military History, the Friends of the British Cemetery at Elvas, and the Friends of the Lines of Torres Vedras. toon minder
