Eddie Trunk

Eddie is an elitist. If you have seen or heard his show... it is kind of a duh. The book like the broadcast is kind of a "who's backside can I get up today?" Eddie only talks about what he wants to talk about. It is all opinion and him bragging about this and that. I have seen him dismiss some pretty important bands to the genre as if they were nothing. That is ok if you are writing an editorial but when you are putting something out that represents the genre and you are trying to educate people you should be accurate, to the point and represented. Either way it is leaps and bounds better than that chunk of steaming vomit that Chris Ingham from Metal Hammer put out. At least Trunk is accurate with what he does say.… (meer)

I received Eddie Trunk's Essential Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Volume II as part of a Goodreads giveaway.

Music historian Trunk's book takes a brief glance at 35 hard rock and heavy metal bands/acts. Each band receives about 6 pages of brief biographical information, along with photographs, factoids, discography, and recommended playlists from Trunk.

As someone not familiar with many hard rock/metal bands, the book was interesting reading for me, but more ardent fans might want to skip it, as the entries are more overviews than in-depth "never before seen" information.

Recommended for amateur music historians and outsiders/newbies to hard rock/metal.… (meer)
