This is actually an exhibit catalogue, and I am still wondering whether it is worth trying to visit it in the next few weeks. The main objects are a series of reconstructions of dresses that Sisi (Empress Elizabeth of Austria, 1837-1898) wore in photographs or portraits. The book is set up as a short biography.

It may seem strange to base a biography on a series of clothing, but the dresses have been chosen to reflect various aspects of her life. also, Sisi was very aware of her visual impression, so for her it seems to work.

I recently got back from a trip in Vienna Austria and one of the sights we saw in Vienna was the Hofburg Palace. I was completely enthralled with all of the wonderful displays there and was especially captured with the Sisi Museum and the tour of the Imperial Apartments. I knew after I had finished this tour I had to get something to read about Emperor Franz Joseph and his beautiful if a bit eccentric wife Sisi. I purchased this book because I wanted to find out more information on Franz Joseph and I thought this would be an excellent way to begin learning more about the family. I found all of the information in the book interesting and a helpful place to start for anyone looking to find out more on Franz Joseph. This book gives a bit of information on all of the important aspects of his life including his relationships with his brother, mother and wife plus his children and grandchildren. He also includes details about his private life and political feelings. I really enjoyed reading this book and it helped provide supplemental information that added to things I had learned on the tour of the Imperial Apartments and Sisi Museum.
