Affair of State: A Biography of the 8th Duke and… door Henry Vane
This dual biography of the 8th Duke and Duchess of Devonshire was meant to be more of a "personal" biography than a "political" one. I think the book fails in that reguard. No doubt, politics played a huge part in their life. In fact, 75% of the book is political. However, I believe this is the first biography of the couple. Some parts were interesting. Most were not.

Recommended for only those "hardcore" fans of British politics, in both the political sense and the social sense, as well as for fans of the Devonshire family.… (meer)
