Trish and her husband, Trevor, went hiking one weekend in Waterton National Park in Southern Alberta. When they were attacked by a grizzly bear, they both survived. For years afterward, Trish had to endure surgeries, medications, infections, depressions, nightmares and mental anguish. At the same time, Trevor was finishing medical school and they started a family.
You hear about bear attacks in the news, but you never hear about all the issues that survivors might have to deal with after the fact. For Trish and Trevor, this went on for many, many years. One thing I didn't like about the book, though, is that Trish skipped forward in time a lot, so there were a few times where I lost track of where they were living or how much time had passed.… (meer)
