2021 movie #227. 2021. If you like the other Matrix movies, you'll love this. I did. Mr. Anderson, who's been working as a video game designer (of a game called The Matrix) must once again chose to take the red pill.

First half was pretty interesting, the second just Hong Kong combat.

Bien que l'histoire ne soit en rien ma tasse de thé et qu'elle m'ait de ce fait échappé en partie, il est difficile de rester indifférent à la beauté des images de The Matrix, à leur fluidité, leur énergie folle, à la beauté chorégraphique des combats. L'esthétisme du film, assez éblouisssant à plusieurs endroits, justifie à lui seul qu'on le regarde.

I am extremely biased when it comes to the Matrix.
Heck, i considered buying a Toyota Matrix just because of the name.
The first two are my favorite movies of all time!!

“The Matrix” was a landmark in the way films were made, and its distinctive visual style - and that fact it could get made at all - is thanks in large part to the directors’ decision to storyboard it out in its entirety with experienced comic and conceptual artists. This book collects those boards, the shooting script, and a selection of important conceptual art and production notes in to one glorious glossy reference.

It’s a shame that the book(s) for the sequels (and the mooted book on the first film’s post-production) never came together, but understandable. Even the market for this one couldn’t have been huge. One for the fans.

I'm glad I finally watched the entire trilogy--but it just gets worse as it goes along. And it isn't worth trying to make sense--or a religion--out of it. Much too much mumbo jumbo. But the leads are still great.

The plot is just OK, and the dialogue and performances frequently overly campy (somewhat saved by some of the cast being quite excellent actors), but the world building and visuals are both amazing, making it a very immersive and entertaining experience for all its other flaws.½

Still good solid fun, except for the last scenes and the power of love.

Oh dear - this was pretty bad. Made no sense at all - too many and too long fight scenes. I'm sure Sean Bean doesn't need the money so why was he here? I know Channing Tatum can act so we'll forgive him as he needs to build a career. But otherwise Ouch.

Huh. Well that hasn't aged well. After seeing it a few times, the once-mind-bending science fiction has nothing to offer, and instead I just notice how it doesn't hold up to too much thought. And after the last decade, the movie's once-awesomely-innovative style just looks like every other bad action movie. It's really only got two good things left: Mr. Smith, and Hugo Weaving.

Preposterous eye-candy. Channing Tatum was surprisingly good. An interlude in a human house that is slowly turning into a beehive is pretty neat. Some Whedonesque humourous interludes to bring relief from the big set pieces. Eddie Redmayne chews the scenery to bits. The whole thing is marred by romance (the genre which, according to Neal Stephenson, has taken over the movies). The (very long) fight scene at the end was a tedious nod to the conventions of the genre, and quite uninteresting.

Neo & friends are introduced to a series of characters.

It alternates between bad philosophizing, and repetitive fight scenes. There's about ten minutes of good action (the stuff that doesn't involve Neo, interestingly), and lots of nice visuals, enough to just barely make it a watchable - if boring - movie. The writing is so awful, though.

15 years later and still pretty good. Old and new fans alike will agree that this was a uniquely entertaining feature film.

It's interesting. Not really what I was expecting. More storyboards of the first movie that actual artwork or design concept work although there's some of that in there as well. Maybe for a diehard fan of the movie or series. The script's in there as well.

Interesting for a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the movie, more of a coffee-table book than anything; not something you would read for pleasure.

I enjoyed it and give it five stars only for the "letter from valerie" scene (on youtube), three stars otherwise for being enjoyable with that awesome scene but otherwise the politics are silly.

Id probably give 5 stars to a box of manure if The Matrix logo was on it.

I know this story is serious but I can't help that EVERY TIME I SEE THIS BOOK TITLE I sing Bound by Kanye!
