This sets up the series so there is a lot of explanation and confusing time travel explanations, esp about not changing the future by altering the time line.
The plot was really good and the Laird is swoon-worthy, he's a real sweetheart but I skimmed a bit as I got bogged down with the science.
Book 3 is excellent, the best of the series IMO.

** spoiler alert ** I loved book 3 but for me this is cheating. He isn't married yet so technically it isn't and the marriage is all about finances and the good of the clan and the future wife is okay with it as she has no interest in marriage but he loves and intends to carry on a relationship with another woman 'Claire' after the marriage.
The redemption is really good, really makes him work for it and there is some ex drama which adds to the angst.
