his excellent collaboration between director Peter Walker and his regular scriptwriter David McGillivray is an uncompromising attack on religion in general and the Catholic Church in particular. The themes of hypocrisy within a traditional institution are similar to their other collaborations, but this attack on the church has particular viciousness and bite. The film is enhanced by some excellent central performances from Anthony Sharp as the murderous priest and Susan Penhaligon as the targeted innocent. The great Sheila Keith, however, commands the screen whenever she is on, giving a trademark imposing and dominating performance.… (meer)
