Herbert W. Williams

Although there have been two subsequent editions, the changes have been few and it is only fair that those later editions continue to bear Herbert William's name. The fact that a whole generation of eminent native speakers of Maori, including Apirana Ngata and Pei Te Hurinui Jones made so few changes to the fifth edition is an indication of how well H. W. Williams had used his Maori sources.
