This is a story that did not hold my interest at all. In fact I didn't finish it I regret to say.
I found the characters unbelievable.
Maybe if I read other books in the series I may understand a bit more.

Ponderous and exceptionally dull. I got about 50 pages in and just couldn't take it anymore. What a clunker.

The main character, Ben Candidi, is dull, and the writing is flat. There's very little mystery. On the other hand, this is partially balanced by the scientific setting---an academic in a medical school---and an ending that finally picks up some steam.

A fun quick read. The hero, soon-to-be-Dr. Ben Candidi, investigates a biotech startup to help his client decide whether or not to buy it. The broad strokes of the story are fairly predictable, especially after the prologue, but the charming narrative details carry it through.
