The book is a comprehensive aid to learning the Chinese language. It will teach you to read, write and speak. The only thing it has no apparatus for is a critical part of language learning-listening. It contains a lot of exercises and vocabulary that will help the student learn fast. So things of concern are: It will teach one the Beijing or Pekinese accent, and it only teaches the simplified characters.
