This is a book presenting some elements of philosophy, motivation, and methodology for the development of a free world not in absence of the unfree world, or in regional transition from an unfree world, but by personall and interpersonally developing that free world in parallel to the unfree world. While its authors set it to some degree in contrast to agorism, I see it as strictly compatible, as agorism (according to the key written work of agorism, [b:An Agorist Primer|6057120|An Agorist Primer|Samuel Edward Konkin III|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1348271752l/6057120._SY75_.jpg|6233183]) describes the principles behind the Second Realm ethos and expected consequences without specifying the precise approach and mechanisms presented in this book. One might interpret agorism as 2R (aka "the second realm") with a worldwide sociopolitical "end goal". The authors of The Second Realm position 2R as functionally identical to agorism without a worldwide sociopolitical end goal.

I think this book will be more palatable to many if they read [b:An Agorist Primer|6057120|An Agorist Primer|Samuel Edward Konkin III|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1348271752l/6057120._SY75_.jpg|6233183] first, assuming they were in a good mental place to accept the positive messages of that book. The idea of a worldwide sociopolitical end goal is something many people may have a difficult time getting past without some kind of process of easing into the way of thinking wherein the journey is itself the end goal, as this book essentially presents things.

There are details here and there that do not sit well with me, but they are unnecessary to the important central theses of the book and the ethos (even if the authors seem fully sold on the idea that some of these details are essential). That kind of thing, along with perhaps a touch of possible improvement in copy editing in the edition I read, is all that holds me back from giving it a fifth star.

Feel free to disagree with some of the specific beliefs of the authors, as long as you keep your mind open to the overall idea of 2R freedom. That's what I do, and I think it's a worthy ideal.
