The books in this collection were sent to the HOMWAC (Home for Women and Children) School. This school is located in Accra, the capitol of Ghana. Many of the 50-75 children who attend the school live in the market with their mothers. The school has very limited resources, but they do have a safe area to store books once they are received. The school has normal schoolday classes in addition to Saturday extra classes. The headmistress is hoping that special literacy classes can be implemented on Saturday once they receive this shipment of books.
Update: unfortunately, the school was damaged by flooding in the spring of 2015. They had to suspend operations, so even though the books had arrived in Ghana in May of 2015, they could not be delivered to the school. We have now heard that the school resumed operations in the fall of 2015 and that the books were delivered. We are still waiting for updates and pictures.

Books Matter is located in Toronto. We send donated books to schools in Ghana, West Africa. Books are scarce in Ghana... very scarce! We receive donations at our website in order to pay for shipping. We are thankful for the many donations we've received from LT members.
