Over mijn bibliotheek
My library is really "our" library, as my wife and I share many interests: U.S. history (especially NYC and the American Southwest) for me; literature, early Christianity, and philosophy for her. There are bookcases in nearly every room in our house, all of them jammed with books.
Over mij
I'm a historian and a novelist. I received my B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and my Ph.D. from Columbia University. I taught U.S. history for forty-four years at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. During that period I published four nonfiction books in my field, one of which, "A Scattered People: An American Family Moves West," was cited by the Colonial Dames of America as one of the three best books in U.S. history published in 1985. Since my retirement, I've been writing novels--three so far in the Buenaventura Series, all of them set in 18th-century New Mexico, and all of them stories of adventure, spiritual seeking, and the occult (a Spanish brujo is the central character).
