My career goal is to work in a public library setting; however, I have not worked in a library setting since my last year of high school in 2013. The main purpose for my digital collection is to help me practice cataloging procedures as if I was working in a public library setting. My digital collection will consist of metadata records containing descriptive information about objects in my own personal collection of books, e-books, movies, and music. I chose to use my personal collection for this project because just like most public library collections, I own a large amount of leisure items in various formats and genres. This will not only allow me to organize and keep track of my own personal collection, but also practice creating metadata records for digital/physical objects, exercising cataloging skills, and experiment with new metadata schemes for future use.

The scope of the objects in my personal collection consists of traditional books, e-books, movies, and music in a variety of formats and genres. The different formats include hardback, paperback, mass paperback, e-book, DVDs, and CDs. The different types of genres range from fiction to nonfiction, children, young adults, cookbooks, textbooks, horror, paranormal, fantasy, romance, and more. My digital collection will be maintained by me as this will be a digital collection of objects that I personally own. I plan to maintain and add to this digital collection as my personal collection grows
