As evidenced by the preponderance of positive ratings in my catalog, I tend to love pretty much everything I read, but as my personal library grows, I anticipate that I will develop a slightly more distinguishing taste. Also, several of the books here I don't actually own, but I care more about what I read as opposed to what I have.

One reason to be excited about life is the sublime knowledge that no matter how much you read, there will always be more. It's unfortunate, however, that even a lifetime is not nearly long enough to experience and absorb all there is to take away from the vast body of literature available to us. Therefore, a primary goal of my entire life will be to maintain steady readership of books new to me, and re-readership of old favorites. I am not a natural at relating to (or interacting with) other people. The experience of literature, however, has and will continue to give me insight into what it means to be a human, and particularly, a human amongst other humans. If the only thing the reading of books could do for society is strengthen our relationships with those who surround us and love us, the activity would still be quite indispensable. Because literature can do this and far more, it is absolutely imperative that we keep our literary tradition alive for ourselves and for those who follow in our footsteps. Thank you, English teachers of America! Am I excited about life? No doubt about it!
