I have been an avid reader of books since my early years, posing as a child. Words and visual word shapes representing ideas,real and surreal, have always informed and seduced me. I suppose that, and a guitar, would explain my becoming a songwriter and now an author.

My breadth of reading interests cover a vast space filled with the sciences, physics, astronomy, psychology, arts and literature, biographies, American history, world history, books on the advent of language, studies on the inner child, Stephen King and other modern day mysteries,and pretty much what you might find on a hotel night table or poetry written on a bathroom wall.

I am and have been a reader since forever, past and future. I am a book addict, a word junkie and not ashamed of my lust.

My name is Dick Wagner. I am a musician (guitarist), songwriter, producer and now an author as well.

I’ve been leading an extraordinary/ordinary life, filled with days of pure craziness, hard travel, music, and loneliness amongst huge crowds, nights and days spent in the quest of sex, drugs and rock and roll, musical excellence, and knowledge of the nature of love.

A Detroit raised rock guitar player, an original progenitor of the Detroit Sound, and collaborator on iconic, legendary albums by Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Aerosmith and hundreds of LP’s and CD’s from the 1960s right up to the 2000s, means I am getting on in years. But I’m still 18 and I like it!

My book, “Not Only Women Bleed,” is a journey through 5 decades of inside the rock music bubble, where life and death reached out for me and where I had both thrust upon me and branded me a survivor…only the love part ever knocked me for a loop and is still a quandary at times.
