Over mijn bibliotheek

My collection of books mostly matches my educational journey. See About Me. That means books focus on education, faith, theology, philosophy, and ethics, along with my favorite fiction, plus books on craftsmanship, gardening, etc. My favorite fiction includes Lewis, Tolkien, Eco, Berry, Asimov, Sayers, L'Engle, Le Guin, and Rowling. I enjoy woodworking, ceramics, gardening, cooking, baking, live music, and theatre. Joining LibraryThing was a step toward organizing my books and accomplishing the goal of culling volumes that I mentioned in About Me.

Over mij

I grew up in NYC and lived there through college. I moved to Philadelphia when I got married, and our three sons were born there. We have lived in the Pacific NW since 1993. My undergraduate degree (a BS from CCNY) was in Education; my Seminary degree (a MAR from WTS) taught me biblical languages, hermeneutics, theology, and apologetics. I am certified as a teacher and principal (WWU); my doctorate (SPU) is in Education with a focus on the integration of faith and learning.

I recently (2023) retired from full-time teaching and am in the process of integrating the books from my classroom into my home collection. The near-final count is over 300 books that will be purged. LibraryThing has been a great tool as I sort through and organize my library.

My wife and I enjoy traveling, regionally (PNW) and occasionally internationally (Italy). Our most recent was a trip to Firenze, Ravenna, and Roma. My profile picture is from that trip.
