Over mijn bibliotheek
My library consists of every book that is currently in my house, along with books that I have read but not kept. Ever since I was little I loved reading and even had that pie in the sky dream of reading every book in the library!

In the past I used to keep all the books I read or would buy all the books from the same author just for the sake of it (a bit of OCD there!) however over time I realised that this was just preventing me from ever getting to the masses of good books that are published each year.

That's why I love LibraryThing, as I can keep a record of all the books I have read or looked at over time without the need for physically keeping them all. I do however still keep my favourites! :o)
Over mij

I was born in Indiana, USA and my childhood years were filled with downtown corn roasts, riding my bike to Walgreens, and munching on soft pretzels in the over-chlorinated air at the Hub Pool. When I was 16, I walked onto a plane with a Cheshire cat grin on my face, bound for Estonia via New York and Helsinki. For one year I lived the life of a Rotary Youth Ambassador while also having the opportunity to travel to places such as Russia, Italy, and Sweden.

During my time in Tallinn, Estonia I learned how to navigate ice covered cobblestone streets in heeled boots, had my first taste of chopped liver, discovered the pleasure of a wooden sauna, and ate more sour cream topped solyanka soup than was probably good for me. I also realised that Europe was the place for me.

In 1998 I moved to London, England where I lived for nine years working mainly in education and social services. The vibe of the city with its atmosphere of potential and success is something I will always love and miss. In 2007 I packed my bags once more, this time with two cats in tow, and jumped onboard a Stena Line ferry landing in Rotterdam, the Netherlands (well technically Hoek van Holland).

We (my Dutch husband and our two black cats Blair and Cleo) live in Ridderkerk-Bolnes, a small town on the edge of Rotterdam very near the river. I am the VP of Operations at an ed-tech company, which I really enjoy. In my free time I enjoy reading, travelling, photography, playing mahjong (the original version, not the matching one), listening to music, and baking/cooking. I am easily distracted by plants, fountain pens, and all things stationery.
