being able to sort the cover view by author instead of by title, like you can on the mosiac...or is there a way to do that?

Yup, it's available now. Cover view inherits the sort order from your list view, so dive into list view - sort the catalogue any which way you wish and then switch to cover view.

ok then i must be a fool because no matter what i do in list view, all i get is my books that begin with A - Abduction, An Acceptable Time, The Aeneid
