I'm asking around LT for recommendations of your favorite comic strips and cartoonists. I think maybe the best known in the USA is Footrot Flats, but I'm sure there are a lot of great ones that I've never heard of.
What would you recommend?

There was a multimedia comic extravaganza by Karl Wills featuring Jessica Flowers (Jessica of the Schoolyard) and her band Jessica and the Jawbreakers. There were strips, iconic art, and a CD of the band's greatest hits (2007) from the Comic Book Factory in Auckland .

Saw this floating around at Christmas, heaps of great comics/artists: http://www.randomhouse.co.nz/books/adrian-kinnaird/from-earths-end-the-best-of-n... (some not so great too...)

That looks exciting! I'll be waiting for Random House to make it available in the U.S. (or for my budget to afford shipping for NZ . . . )

They are so funny, but especially if you have kids.

Now I've got another question for everyone. Is there a particularly good bookshop with online ordering and international shipping that I might try to buy some of your recommendations from?

Can't recall the name of the upmarket shop where I bought comics and graphic novels (pricey). You might try the chain bookstore Whitcoull's. I buy quite a few books from NZ shops via www.abebooks.com but don't know how good it would be for finding comics or other graphic art.
