Could anyone who has ordered and received this DLE comment on its quality? Many thanks in advance.

EP got back on this...there are 161 illustrations, 12 full page. Very tempting now.

You should buy it and let us know what they look like!

>6 GOBOGIE: tempted to just see it with 30 day return policy. I love Ivanhoe and have an excellent Franklin Library edition.

Anybody get Ivanhoe DLE yet with 161 b and w illustrations of which 12 are full page?

I have it. I'll try to take some photos when I'm done with night shifts on Tue if you'd like.

>10 hmsdrco2001: pretty pricey for a single volume. Is it worth it?

I have a copy of the 100 Greatest version, really enjoyed the novel (and Scott's writing style), and remain quite content with owning only the lesser version. Perhaps someone with a greater affinity for DLEs can weigh in on where it stands in comparison with other DLEs, design-wise.

>12 treereader: they are very nice if they are your very favorite books and they are profusely illustrated. I have the very nice Franklin, but tempted to review because Ivanhoe is one of my very favorite books.

Given that Ivanhoe is one of your favorite books, plus the fact that EP will let you return things so easily, it sounds like you should give it a try. If it doesn't impress you can send it back without any risk.

I know, by that logic, it would mean I should take my own advice and get the DLE, too, but I went in another direction. Instead of doubling down on Ivanhoe, I started going after premium copies of Scott's other works.

I haven't had a chance to read them yet but I picked up Waverly, Talisman, and Kenilworth. I'm assuming they are written as proficiently and as entertainingly as I found Ivanhoe to be; they're all rated fairly well, at least for their time. Once I get through those, if I find them just as good, I'll be on the hunt for the entire Waverly series from a fine printer.

I have posted in my gallery (12) photos of the Ivanhoe DLE should any member desire viewing. On (1) of them I chose not to use flash as to demonstrate the page ink and it's contrast in the illustrations. This Ivanhoe variant does not have a TOC or Illustration list unless I missed both during the photo snaps.

Well LT EP group, I regret my camera work needs work. The images looked great with clear text on my Window 7 machine at 2560 x 1600 resolution, however, I had to upload them via android phone.

>15 HugoDumas:
My favorites are Ivanhoe and The Talisman. Both are excellent. I have read Kenilworth and The Bride of Lammermoor and those were pretty good. I know this is heresy but I didn't at all enjoy Waverley.

Only 24 copies left, anyway on the fence better decide soon.

I went ahead and got a copy in July when then had about 72 copies left. This is actually a very nice edition for anyone on the fence. Granted, it may get discounted on Cyber Monday, with 24 copies left, it probably won't sell out on the weekend.

I ordered it two weeks ago, but have not received it. Looking forward to reading it with all those illustrations. I doubt it would be discounted this weekend with that quantity remaining.

I watched the 1952 film with Liz Taylor, Robert Taylor and Joan Fontaine a few months back. The story line is great of course but it was (IMHO) not that well done with the exception of Robert Taylor’s acting.

I was able to pick up this DLE in the spring of this year. I still have the paperback from when I read it in middle school.

I love watching early technicolor movies... the colors were so vibrant

The Ivanhoe DLE, recreating the illustrated 1879 edition, is back:

The original price in 2015 was $260, so the current $288 doesn’t look too bad.

It’s nice but ridiculously overpriced. I was glad to get my money back on eBay.
