I found out yesterday that he passed away in Nov 2015. We exchanged emails every now and then and I hadn't heard from him since July 2015. His encyclopedic knowledge of erotica will be missed, as well as his kindness and humor. RIP

I'm very sorry to hear this. We didn't have much contact but it was always interesting and enlightening. Thanks for letting us know, lenny. Yes, he will be missed.

I have a number of works where Clifford Dorset and I are the only members. So I will miss him also. I wonder who will take over his membership. He had 3111 works listed. I see from his profile that no one has taken this over. Ill google his name to see if there is any mention of his heirs

So far I have found this... but ill keep looking

Clifford Dorset

I'm a retired research scientist, from almost the last all-male Grammar School generation that was caned quite regularly. Every teacher was allowed to use one of the canes that were kept in the Staff Room, and only a few denied themselves this duty. This location of the Staff Room certainly didn't diminish the humiliation of having to trek along seemingly endless (but mostly empty) corridors and to request it on behalf of the teacher, and then to return to the class so that it could be used in front of them. The Headmaster had his own cane, of course, and I had quite a few opportunities to stare at his study carpet while he used it.

Perhaps strangely, therefore, my tastes have always been as a giver rather that a receiver, and with female recipients.

I am currently involved in writing and researching erotic art and literature, with a particular emphasis on 'erotic chastisement'.

Also this... Strange cant find any of his works on LT

I am sad to have to report the death on November 21st of the author known as Clifford Dorset, I believe from the effects of pulmonary fibrosis.

John was a retired research scientist from Dorset whom I had known for a number of years after meeting on Flaming Cheeks, the website run by Alex Birch. He owned an extensive library of books, including many on the subject of erotic flagellation, and he wrote a number of articles about famous authors in this genre, using his research skills to work out who they were behind their pseudonyms in addition to commentary on their work. I always found him kind, polite and knowledgeable, a real gent as they say.

I was in communication with him shortly before his death on the subject of a collaborative story of which he had written a chapter which has just been loaded to this library.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.
