Hi there.

So, I just added a new venue because I was updating where I purchased books and it wasn't on the list. (I checked the building address in local search.) I have a couple of questions.

The venue I'm talking about is the Vancouver Art Gallery, which has a gift shop and a library. There is already a venue for the Library (ID 71354) and I've just added the Gallery Store (ID 111407). I noted the pictures in the Library Venue actually show the Gallery Store, but my main question is about adding purchased books.

I've listed the store as "Other" because they aren't exclusively a book store, but I can't use it in my book edit page as a venue. Is that because it needs some manner of approval first, or is it that it needs to be designated an actual bookstore?

On top of that, the store also has an online venue. Should that be added separately under the online venue designation?

I've kept the store and Library separate, though they are at the same address, because they serve different purposes. It would also be nice, I think, to be able to say where I got the books (2 exhibition catalogues) because they aren't to be too common on LibraryThing, yet.

...or did I miss all of this in a FAQ somewhere?

You should be able to use it. However, I've noticed that there is often a time lag between adding a venue and when it shows up in a search. (Indeed, it is now there: http://www.librarything.com/venue/111407/The-Gallery-Store-Vancouver-Art-Gallery...

Don't add a separate listing for the online venue. You can indicate in the description that books can be purchased on line.

Thanks! I was wondering about that, as things like "Indigo Online" are listed separately, but Indigo is a franchise so I guess that's the difference.

Yes, since there are so many Indigo stores, it makes sense to have a separate listing for their online presence.
