Hey everyone!

Just curious as to what some of you folks have crocheted for gifts? I just recently finished a number 2 pencil scarf for my SIL that is a teacher.

I'm no help. The only crochet I've tried was a few Christmas snowflake ornaments many years ago. But scarves are in so I'd say that's a great idea. Or I've seen some scarf-type cowls that are big and heavy with buttons that I think are cute. Here's a link to a site I found on Printrest: http://www.diytomake.com/11-diy-warm-cozy-crochet-scarfs/. I think the second one is particularly great.

>3 avaland: I'm no help either, as I don't crochet. But I have received as gifts over the years: a lovely crocheted bookmark, several crocheted throws and crocheted granny square pot holders (not that useful as potholders because of the holes, so I use them to put between my nonstick fly pans when in storage).

Oh - I forgot about bookmarks. I've gotten a few nice ones over the years too.

I crocheted 6 afghans this year and also scarfs. I found a small Christmas wreath on Pinterest that used the ring of a gallon milk carton for the base. Pull green yarn through the ring and chain 3 ( 1 st dc), then 31 more dc in center. Add white and do a v-stitch (sc 1, ch 2, sc 1 in same space), skip one, and another v-stitch until the end. Add some red French knots for some berries that are spaced around the ring. I crocheted chains for a hanger and added a bow at the top. You can find better instructions if you search Pinterest. These were fast and easy. I think a small bell would add to the piece.

>5 mnleona: Do you mean the ring off the gallon cap?

>6 avaland: Yes. My daughter pulled one off using a cork screw. You know when you open the milk, it leaves the ring.

This year I am crocheting 7 afghans/blankets. I am trying to catch-up on a temperature blanket I saw on Fiber Flux.

Wow, that seems like a lot of afghans for one holiday!

All of them liked the afghans I crocheted. I will finish the temperature blanket for the end of the year. I found the idea on Fiber Flux. This next year I plan to get back to my embroidery work. What plans does everyone have?

>13 mnleona: mnleona, why don't you start a thread of your own here so we can all follow your needle projects over the course of the year?

I never thought about it. Thanks for the suggestion. "Leona's Crochet and Needlework Projects in 2020".
