Storm affects 4 lives in different ways

I got a fiction book, about a storm affecting four different lives. The book starts off with a scientists' resort/retreat( I remember that part quite well because they elaborate on how immaculate and amazing this place was) and it is LITTERED with bodies (dead). No one knows what happened, so they donned Hasmat suits and the bodies continued on into the resort itself and on to the balcony where they managed to find a living little girl who was hiding in a trunk/chest. They ask her what happened and she is terrified saying that they came with the storm (something like that). I also remember that one of the lives is a woman in an abusive marriage and at the end of chapter 3 she decides to kill him during the storm that is headed their way. THEN MY BOOK WAS STOLEN!!!!!!!!! I can't remember the name for the life of me. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone tell me they know of this book!!!!!!
