Women's History Month

One of headlines listed for the group today was "COMMENTARY: First, the book-banners came for CRT and LGBTQ. Now they're censoring women's history" by Salon. I went into the post to see if clearly acknowledged the timing, and it did, sure enough.

Subheader: "Wyoming moves to ban gender studies, further bringing GOP in line with Russia and Hungary's authoritarian crackdown"
First line: "Just in time for Women's History Month, the Republican book banners are trying to erase women's history."

March is recognized as Women's History Month in the USA, UK, Australia, and possibly elsewhere. The Library of Congress is one of its main supporters.

In honor of this month, here are links to some of the relevant book lists (created by tag search) on LibraryThing.

And here are a select few books that no doubt would keep certain censors awake at night by their existence.
1. Words Will Break Cement: The Passion of Pussy Riot by Masha Gessen
2. Your Ad Could Go Here: Stories by Oksana Zabuzhko (translated by Halyna Hryn, Askold Melnyczuk, Marco Carynnyk, and Marta Horban)
3. Rad Women Worldwide: Artists and Athletes, Pirates and Punks, and Other Revolutionaries Who Shaped History by Kate Schatz (illustrated by Miriam Klein Stahl)
