August-September 2022 Nominations and Voting

As the admin had abandoned us again, let's get that sorted out. As we had a tie last time, we only need 2 authors for Q3.

The usual rules apply:
- Nominate any author you would like to read (with the exception of the last 24 authors (as of July 1 - so August 2020 to July 2022) who were selected: the list is here: https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/Monthly_Author_Reads).
- Repeated authors are ok (as long as they are not one of the last 24).
- You can nominate as many authors as you want and you can add more nominations at any time
- If someone already nominated an author you want to read, you can second, third (and so on) or just mention them again
- An author gets a point for every vote (nomination or seconding and so on)
- The author with the most votes is our August author, the second one gets September.
- In case of a tie, we just continue filling the months (no point doing second rounds I think - if there are enough people wanting the authors, we may as well).

Deadline: 1 July 2022

PS: I will run a running total so please don't edit your old messages - just add new ones when you want to add (or remove) someone to/from your list of nominees.

So we have a bit of a problem here... Within the nomination window (31 days), we got 5 authors nominated once each (>6 dianelouise100: is too late).

So we can either just get the 5 authors and fill the year or declare August and September "Read what you missed before" months and then pick up the nominations again next month to select October-December authors.

Thoughts?

Or we could have 2 or 3 a month for the next 2 months using up these 5 and hope interest picks up again with shorter days in the autumn?

I thought about that but that will render them unusable for the next 2 years under our rules so I would rather not burn the authors that way - they kind deserve their months...

I find the "Read what you missed before" option attractive, especially as I'm on holiday during those months.

>9 AnnieMod: fair point, so maybe MissWatson is right about keeping it open for catching up :)

I like the “read what you missed before” option
Apologies for not noting the deadline!

So we're still having "read what you missed before" in both August AND September? Just checking to be sure.
