Hi! I'm trying to find this series and it is driving me crazy.
I read this book 10-15 years ago, probably in middle school. I can confidently say there are two books, one is blue and one is red. The only main plot point I remember is there was a boundary between humans and goblins, and I think it was a tree or bush boundary.
I'm pretty sure there are some illustrations, and the bratty girl lives in a very nice house. At one point, I think the female protagonist goes into the woods and interacts with all of the goblins/magical beings there. I feel like I am remembering challengings and I feel like there was also a basketball court or something, but I'm not positive.
It's not the spiderwick chronicles, but has a similar reading level. It would have been probably like 100 pages?
If you know what this is, you are a godsend. Sorry my description is so vague. Thank you!!

>1 potterhead9999: Some aspects sound like the Sisters Grimm series! The first book has a red cover, and the second one is blue, the books have illustrations, and while there are no goblins, the female protagonist is lured past the tree barrier into the forest and encounters a fairy in an abandoned gym (with a pool and basketball courts I believe).

>2 RosetheReader: I looked it up and I don't think that's it :( I wish I could remember more.

Not a perfect fit, but is it The Various?

>4 keachachu: no :((

I'm probably completely off as it's a YA trilogy with no illustrations, but it is about humans and trolls and the main character was a changeling. There was a separation between their worlds as well. The first book is an all red cover Switched and the second book is an all blue cover Torn. Not exactly as you describe, but just in case.

>6 WhiteRaven.17: no but i have read that one. the one I'm looking for is a series that is much younger than that

I really feel like I should know what this is (I read pretty much any magical ya/middle grade novels I could get my hands on during that same time period.) Is it possible it's the Thirteen Treasures series (I know one of the cover editions the first book is red and the second one is blue)? Or (a pretty long shot) Winterling series?
