New thread for June. Enjoy!

Still reading A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon.

I stumbled across a series by Rachel Aaron and blazed through Nice Dragons Finish Last and One Good Dragon Deserves Another. Fast reading, fun characters, light romantic thread. I'm starting book 3 today. Fun urban fantasy with dragons, spirits, mages, seers and more.

>2 elorin: I've gotten through the first 2 books myself. I agree, they are very fun. :)

----------

My copy of Witch King from Martha Wells arrived today. I'm between reads at the moment, so decided to jump right into it.

I am still mostly around Chicago for Brief Cases.

I'm back in Deverry, starting series 3 with The red wyvern.

Finished No Good Dragon Goes Unpunished and have to admit I will probably buy the next book in the morning. I set a timer to stop reading for the night and ended up turning it off and reading through the end of the book. It's late but it was worth it. I can't wait to find out what happens next.
Fun, fast urban fantasy filled with great main characters and lighthearted side characters and what l feel is a gripping story.

I am taking a final trip to Cradle for Waybound.

>5 ScarletBea:, is each series of Deverry pretty much standalone, or is there a thread that runs through all of them?

>8 Cecrow: There is a main thread in the background, which is basically the story of the world, but they can be read separately.
Especially because the timeline doesn't go sequentially, rather round and round, back and forwards...

I finished that one today and will now start The black raven.

Just left San Francisco, where I visited a vintage clothes shop in Secondhand spirits.

I am in Wilmington for Magic Claims.

>11 Narilka: I first read that as "Magic Clams", and now I'm a little disappointed. However, your book exists, so that makes it possible to read.

>11 Narilka: So envious. It does not seem to be available in Europe yet, even though the publishing date was yesterday

>12 karenb: hehehe a lot of fans did the same, so much so that the authors put a reference to "magic clams" in the book ;)

>13 amberwitch: I'm sure it will release soon. Fingers crossed!

I'm back in Chicago for Peace Talks. I have a hunch they will not go as planned.

I am Beyond the Gap in a post-Ice Age world and revisiting Blood Song. You may see this more than once if you are in the scifi group or the Green Dragon.

I'm in a magical London in Half a Soul.

>16 curioussquared: Hope you enjoy it! I thought that was very nice at the time, and afterwards I've compared it favorably to similar books I've read recently (Newt's emerald, The Visteria society of lady scoundrels), so maybe it was even better than I realised.

>17 amberwitch: I'm really liking it about halfway through! I also enjoyed Newt's Emerald but I couldn't get into The Wisteria Society. Half a Soul also reminded me a lot of Sorcerer to the Crown and Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell (although HaS is a lot lighter than JSaMN), so those might be others to look into if you're in the mood for that kind of book :)

I just crossed the halfway mark in Best Served Cold. It's very good. Some people complained that it got repetitive, but I think the evolving character arcs and setting changes are keeping it fresh (so far).

Reading Night Shift Dragons, the third in Rachel Aaron's DFZ series, so I am hip deep in the Detroit Free Zone.

Revisiting a very old favorite in Crown Duel; I haven't read it since I was a teenager so TBD on whether it holds up!

In contemporary Washington, DC and on Scotia island, South Carolina, during the US Civil War with The last dreamwalker by Rita Woods.

Also rereading The night circus for a book group, but I'm liking the other book better at the moment.

Still in the DFZ reading By a Silver Thread which, while introducing fairies to the DFZ, I am not enjoying as much as Rachel Aaron's Heartstriker novels or the DFZ trilogy I just finished.

It's back for another year at Hogwarts with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

I've started my final journey with Fitz & the Fool in Assassin's Fate.

In audiobook format, I've been time travelling to 1800's London with a "reread" of The Anubis Gates. Revisiting an old favorite, and enjoying it just as much this time.
