From time to time there is discussion as to which is the best set of Shakespeare’s plays ever published, and the two sets that are most often mentioned are this one and the Letterpress set published by the Folio Society between 2007 and 2014. For comparison, a review of the Folio Society Letterpress Shakespeare can be seen here.

I would also mention the Nonesuch Press 7-volume complete Shakespeare set (1929 - 1933) in full tan niger morocco bindings as a contender for best Shakespeare set. Perfect reading size, fine letterpress printing by Walter Lewis at the Cambridge University Press on a specially watermarked Pannekoek paper. It also takes up considerably less shelf space than the LEC and FS complete sets. It is certainly a contender.

>2 dlphcoracl: Your excellent photos of the 7-volume Nonesuch Shakespeare posted on the FSD forum here: https://www.librarything.com/topic/349102#8088031
And why it surpasses the bound-to-order Folio Society 1988 Shakespeare Complete Plays (6 vol.) 'in full red Oasis morocco with Cockerell marbled end-leaves, housed in an oak slip case, for £1000'. (per Folio 50, no. 624),
