Short story about stolen Communion wafer

Trying to find a short story I read in the early 70s in a middle school English lit textbook. It was about a boy who stole a Communion wafer to give to a hobo who bullied him into doing it. I can’t remember if h the boy actually turned over the wafer or changed his mind at the last minute.

Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. Boy does steal the wafer, but relents and does not give it to the man (demon).
