The street was foggy like an opium den; not just smoke filled and dim but heavy and incapacitating. It pulled you down, slowly.
I found this line written on a note card in the back of the drawer of my bedside table several years ago. It's written in my handwriting, and I sometimes write passages I like on cards and stick them to my bulletin board. I have searched all over the internet; Google, reddit, Raymond Chandler fan clubs, Jim Thompson fan clubs, research librarians. I even asked Chatgpt which said with 100% certainty that Carlos Ruiz Zafon wrote it and could be found in The Angel's Game. So I read that book, but the line was not in it.
It's driving me crazy! Please Help!
