What did you think to the ending of the main theme and the ending for Tony and Emma? Where now for Tony, personally and professionally?

Emma had written a letter to Tony but after Tony explained what had happened Emma tore up the letter. I think they will reconcile and be together for the next book. His job will still be available but Tony needs to be available more for Emma.

It tied together with Winterthorpe search for a djinn, his finding and capturing it, and his letting it roam every so often to feed. Oswald's secondary plot of the plight of the immigrants was well done and educational.
Tony and Emma are starting to rediscover what they have lost in each other. He is on medical leave and they need to take the trip together, time of rediscovery.

>3 JohnDBurke: You tie all this together very neatly and to my mind make the book sound more coherent than I found it.
Oswald writes a good police procedural but his supernatural elements often seem to me to be all over the place.

>4 Maura49: The supernatural elements allow the reader to forget logic and reason to find answers and just throw darts at the board.

It was inevitable that McLean was going to win out over the evil of the djinn, but I hope he isn’t going to polish up that tiny brass lamp as he thought he might do some time - the extra weight of it should tell him something…
I’m glad McLean and Emma have reached an understanding, but I can’t help wondering what Mme Jasmina meant when she said “… you know as well as I do that wishes come at a price. I think you will be finding out what that price was in the days and weeks to come.”

Of course, Tony was going to solve it and he an Emma are "an item". Everything has to come out okay or James Oswald would have to give up the ghost (no pun intended) and start a new series.
