If you don't mind a latecomer joining in, I'd love to give this a try.

I think it should be more than doable though, as I've already got fifty books reviewed at my blog since the beginning of January.

Book #52 is The Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.
Doesn't seem to be a touchtsone for just The Hatchet.

9ElenaGwynne
jun 25, 2009, 4:10 pm

The list on my blog is saying 54 books, so I guess that's the correct total.

#54 is the sequel to Hatchet, The River by Gary Paulsen.

#55, 56, 57 are:

Brian's Hunt

All by Gary Paulsen

Welcome. You seem to be moving right along as though you were here all along.

Thanks. I viewed a few threads to get the idea and just followed along. It's a lot of fun, keeping track of the books. The blog just helps, as I came in so late, it let me count back without forgetting anything.

ElenaGwynne, you might also be interested in Geisha of Gion by Mineko Iwasaki which is the autobiography of a geisha. I found it quite fascinating, especially as a companion piece to Memoirs of a Geisha.

17ElenaGwynne
jul 8, 2009, 12:05 pm

I'm in luck. The library seems to have it in. Thanks for the rec, wookiebender.

#63 is Hand of Isis by Jo Graham.

It's the story of Cleopatra as told by Charmian, her sister. All I can say is WOW!

21ElenaGwynne
jul 23, 2009, 1:54 am

Book number 64 was The Serrano Connection by Elizabeth Moon. It's an omnibus of Once A Hero and Rules Of Engagement.

Book 65 (not yet up at my blog) was Joust by Mercedes Lackey. It's the first book in the Dragon Jousters series.

22ElenaGwynne
jul 26, 2009, 12:23 pm

Book 66 was Alta by Mercedes Lackey.

I've also got 67 and 68 read, I just haven't posted the reviews to my blog yet.

23ElenaGwynne
jul 29, 2009, 11:37 pm

#67 was the third book in the Dragon Jousters series by Mercedes Lackey: Sanctuary. I found it to be a bit of a "middle book", but still a good read.

24ElenaGwynne
jul 31, 2009, 2:16 pm

#68 was Aerie, by Mercedes Lackey. It concluded the Dragon Jouster's series.

I am now caught up with reviews for completed books.

I"m not including Beowulf for this challenge, as I didn't finish reading the commentaries.

25ElenaGwynne

Book 69 was the middle book in the Templar Trilogy, Standard of Honor by Jack Whyte.

A very good story, to say the least.

26ElenaGwynne
aug 17, 2009, 12:59 pm

Book 70 was the final book in Jack Whyte's Templar Trilogy: Order In Chaos. This was my favorite of the series, I think.

27ElenaGwynne
aug 19, 2009, 2:58 pm

#71 was Nefertiti by Michelle Moran.

28ElenaGwynne
aug 20, 2009, 3:33 pm

I'm hooked on the Stargate TV series now, and have discovered the novelizations as well, so book number 72 was Stargate SG1 The First Amendment by Ashley McConnell.

29ElenaGwynne
aug 22, 2009, 1:37 pm

Book 73 was City of the Gods by Sonny Whitelaw. Another Stargate SG1 novel. Not bad, but my favorite so far has been The Barque of Heaven (book 74).

30ElenaGwynne

Book 75 is James Reston Jr's Defenders of the Faith.

31ElenaGwynne
aug 27, 2009, 4:44 pm

Book 76 is Robin McKinley's latest novel, Chalice, and book 77 is Patricia Brigg's new book, Hunting Ground, the second book in her Alpha and Omega series.

Both were good reads. There won't be a review of Chalice up for a while though, my review is promised to the Royal Reviews blog next month.

The review for Hunting Ground is being written up right now.

Book 78 is Curse of the Tahiera by Wendy Gillissen. This was an interesting case as I wasn't certain when I started the read that I'd like the book. Turned out that I absolutely loved it.

There doesn't seem to be any touchstone for this book yet.

33ElenaGwynne

#79 was The Heretic Queen by Michelle Moran. I really enjoyed the read, and I'm waiting impatiently for Cleopatra's Daughter now.

34ElenaGwynne
sep 5, 2009, 3:54 pm

Book #80 was The Man Who Loved Books Too Much. A great read, and my first ARC book. I loved the look into the book collector's world, and collecting books is something I could see myself doing very easily.

35ElenaGwynne
sep 13, 2009, 6:12 pm

# 81 is Cleopatra's Daughter by Michelle Moran. Historical fiction set in the Rome of Augustus/Octavian.

I loved it. A book that's well worth the wait.

36ElenaGwynne

#82 was Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. Book was OK, but not one of my favorites.

#83 was The Quest of the Holy Grail, read for the Arthurian Challenge and the Pre Printing Press Challenge.

#84 was Catfantastic V. Possibly my favorite book for the week.

I seem to have a discrepancy between this list and the one on my blog. This one's saying this book is # 85, where on my blog it's coming up as #84.

Anyway the next book to add (finished last night) is Against The Tide Of Years by S. M. Stirling.

38ElenaGwynne
sep 26, 2009, 9:36 pm

The next book was Ghosts of Ottawa by Glen Shackleton. A very good read, if creepy enough to keep me from getting to sleep last night.

Thanks to the Name That Book Group I found the next book on the list.

Book 87: Gone-Away Lake by Elizabeth Enright.

It's a kids book, but I loved it anyway.

40ElenaGwynne
okt 3, 2009, 1:13 pm

#88 was Return to Gone-Away. Liked it just as much as the first book.

The numbers here and on my blog are getting farther and farther apart. Going to have to do a recount there soon to figure out what I've missed (number here is higher).

41ElenaGwynne

#89 is Geisha A Life by Mineko Iwasaki. I think it was recommended to me by people here on LibraryThing.

42ElenaGwynne
okt 14, 2009, 2:01 pm

The next book was Defenders of the Scroll by Shiraz.

43ElenaGwynne
okt 15, 2009, 2:29 pm

45ElenaGwynne

#93 is The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon. Good but whew! glad to be finished with the book. two weeks to read a novel is a bit much.

46ElenaGwynne

Time to play catch-up:

#95 was the sequel to that, Lady of Sherwood
#96 was King And Goddess by Judith Tarr
#97 was The Eagle's Daughter by Judith Tarr (not yet reviewed on my blog)
#98 was Andre Norton's Shadow Hawk (also yet to be reviewed)
#99 was Mercedes Lackey's latest novel Gwenhwyfar: The White Spirit

47ElenaGwynne

Definitely time to play catch-up.
Read since my last post:
Changing The World ed. Mercedes Lackey
Griffin And Sabine by Nick Bantock
Sabine's Notebook by Nick Bantock
Samson's Walls by Jud Nirenberg
Torch of Freedom by David Weber and Eric Flint
Divine Misdemeanors bu Laurell K. Hamilton

By my count here it's 106 books. By my count on my blog 102. I slipped up somewhere, but either way I don't care. I made it over a hundred each time.

Good job! And I hope you liked the Griffin and Sabine books as much as I do.
