During the postmodern boom of Blair s Britain, two well-meaning drug dealers on the verge of becoming respectable businessmen become embroiled in a surreal gangster heist. Tony, a West London drug dealer, attempts to start a legitimate business around a new age herbal pill that provides natural highs. In order to secure the cash for their start up venture, he strikes a deal with a kooky English aristocrat. Their plans go askew, however, when Richard, their lawyer and long term friend, involves them in his own shady dealings. Richard acquires an international bearer bond worth $100 million which belongs to Poncho Khan, a notorious Indian Crime boss. In a time when mass consumerism and licentious hedonism are the dominant features of London society, the three men attempt to outsmart the drug king before they fall victim to their own depravity. Over the top hilarious satire about a bunch of goofy criminals and their surreal exploits . Viola uses metaphors, cultural labels and alot of imagery to describe her story telling . Awesome . ( )

A post modern send up of British society , gloriously funny making a mockery of all layers of the English classes who are celebrated and ridiculed in equal measure . From the "wiggas" in Tin Pan Alley to the "trustafarians" in Lower Sloane Street Viola "extends the domain of contemporary culture" by creating a wild and elaborate story with vicious social undercurrents be prepared to be dazzled . BUY SLIDE BY SAIRA VIOLA IF YOU DON'T LOVE IT YOU CAN SPAM ME FOR DAYS !

"The tone of SLIDE is pitched close to reportage and news reel with subtle moments of poetry . It's entertaining and hip and extremely original in that Viola fuses historical facts , poetry, and satire to reveal the excesses of modern morality. Great characters , ugly acts of violence and complusive reading awarded 5 stars because of its dirty wit, electrifying style and challenging perceptions of contemporary society. A book dripping in street cred and stunning imagery take the hit and buy the book !" ( )

Viola's depiction of the fakes, freaks and beauiful ones in SLIDE appeals to anyone who's ever fallen the wrong side of the door "gestapo" at one of the citie's finest clubs or battered the night away with a bunch of "art Fxxx" , who enjoy"locaquious "prattle". This book will make you laugh and sneer in equal measure at the ugly face of VIP hospitality and everyone who wants to belong on the social scene . Not got the right labels well you can't join then! The book is toipcal and unique written with a lively , musical pattern that breaks with ordinary rules of literary style and convention . Smart, opinionated and deliciously different a cult novel of our time . ( )
