They are grouped together loosely in themes and offer a lovely introduction to young children. We read one poem a night to my preschoolers. They loved them. ( ) I read a poem called The Snail by Grace Hazard Conkling. The poem was about a snail that did not take detours and went over the blades of grass instead of around them. There was also a boy in the poem that tells the snail that it would be easier. The wording in the poem was not only difficult to understand but the wording was very tricky. I liked the poem because the snail learned something new. The teacher could bring in some snails and talk about snail facts. The students could also build an environment for a snail with objects from outside; such as blades of grass, rocks, dirt and water. This is a collection of children poetry, there are many different types of poetry in this book. All the poems are very simple and short. I liked this book because its such a variety of poetry. You could use it to read to a class each week because there are so many poems in this book. There is a little bit of illistration in this book. I could use this in my future classroom by having the children write one of their own short poems. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
