This is laid mostly in Grayling, Montana and tells of John and his wife Lizzie. John loses his ranch in 1918, and Lizzie dies three days after the Armistice. Their son comes home. He marries Ann Chapman--another stunning Savage woman. Their baby has a fatal illness; to get money for her son and husband she stripped naked on a table top at a fancy banquet in Grayling. This story seemed a little diffuse, but Savage sure can write. The blurbs on the dust jacket seem true: "a serious writer," " a writer of real consequence." "one of the most eloquent writers practicing today." ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
