Sasha Carrington has grown up feeling like an outsider, and her parents are too concerned with scaling the Lincoln, Connecticut, social ladder to even notice her. They'd be really horrified to know about the supernatural abilities Sasha and her friends Krystal and Jake possess. But as part of the Mystyx, Sasha has found her place.

Now her parents have suddenly taken an interest in everything she does, and their timing couldn't be worse. Sasha's father wants her to become BFFs with snooty Alyssa Turner, who hates Krystal for stealing her boyfriend. Then there's Antoine Watson, the boy Sasha has liked forever, the boy her parents would never approve of. But with the dark side getting more dangerous by the day, and the Mystyx's own powers growing in unexpected ways, Sasha is facing choices that could affect her friends, her love life--and even her destiny....

As the second in the Mystyx series, we move from Krystal in book one, with her ghost whisperer talents, to Sasha, who can split off and relocate herself wherever she wants. The other Mystyx in their group all have magical talents and have learned that there was a weather disturbance that coincides with the day they were born. What they can't figure out is why this overwhelming darkness is following them and threatening their lives.

As a short paranormal romance series, this is quick-paced and easy to get into. I actually like it for its easy drama, not blown out how-do-I-feel chapters or scenes. Sasha was an interesting character, and although I thought her "boyfriend" came on a bit strong and possessive in the book, I think that was meant to highlight his bad-boy status more than anything.

Although short and fast paced, I think this is a fun and easy set of characters, plot lines, and magical nuances to get into. There isn't much struggle figuring out how things work, and although character development is limited to our main character, you do feel like you get answers to your questions. My best suggestion for this series would be the junior high or high school crowd. These make a nice jump into paranormal romance without confusing you with too much back information on magic or family lines. ( )

Manifest was told from Krystal's point-of-view. Mystify comes to us from Sasha's point-of-view. It was fascinating to meet the next member of the three Mystyx characters. I really liked Sasha and how she saw things. She was a fascinating character and I enjoyed reading a book from her perspective.

The mystery of strange weather patterns and the darkness that seems to be overcoming their small town continues for the 3 "Mystyx" from Manifest. As they learn more in this book, the reader does as well and we are treated to new characters both good and bad. The storyline expands more in Mystify and makes me ready to read the next book. More romance follows as it did for Krystal in the first book, it does for Sasha in this book. But Mystify is not all about the romance, it's more of a side storyline to help develop Sasha's character. The real storyline is how the Mystyx are still trying to understand their powers and figure out what is happening in their home town and how they can prevent a horrible event from happening in the future.

It's a fascinating storyline and I was hooked through the whole book. Some big things happen but I didn't feel there was a big thing overall. This felt like more of a transitional book, though it can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed the book and I am definitely intrigued to read the next book as well. I really want to know what will happen to the characters and the epilogue has me scratching my head as well (in a good way).

If you enjoy a different type of paranormal from the typical (but fun) vampires and werewolves, then try out the Mystyx series. You can start with Manifest or just pick of Mystify. Both are entertaining books that have interesting characters and a plot that moves each book along at a great pace. ( )

I just loved how well Ms. Arthur combines paranormal with real life drama. Not with over dramatic stuff, but everyday real stuff that people go through every single day.

We meet Sasha who's life is nothing but what is seems. She is drenched in a world that she totally dislikes and wants nothing part of it. Sasha meets Antoine and is having an extremely hard time fighting the attraction to him. Things get complicated and she must face the question, what really matters?

What really matters when it comes to a relationship? I know now and days people are much more lenient when it comes to dating people of other races. But some people are extremely old fashioned and don't think its is right to stray outside of your race, your class, your people, etc. Sasha is faced with this situation time and time again in this book. She wants to go with her heart but faces trouble when her parents questions why she is hanging out with that thug.

I loved that Sasha is strong and fierce. She knows what she wants, keeps herself out of trouble, and makes good grade. And even though she is a richie, she does not degrade everyone who is not. She is all-around friendly. Sasha sticks up for her friends, and her love, fighting her parents all the way.

The paranormal part was awesome! I love the whole aspect of Gods and Goddesses in a big war. This book also made for great entrainment with all the researching and seeking out secrets.

Ms. Arthur certainly knew how to draw me into her wonderful world of Mystyx. The characters were strong yet fresh. Each of them, finding themselves in this world as well as fighting a war with their powers. I can't wait to read her next book! ( )

Mystify by Artist Auther Early Review.

Sometimes being an outsider is the best way to fit in…
Sasha Carrington has grown up feeling like an outsider, and her parents are too concerned with scaling the Lincoln, Connecticut, social ladder to even notice her. They’d be really horrified to know about the supernatural abilities Sasha and her friends Krystal and Jake possess. But as part of the Mystyx, Sasha has found her place.

Now her parents have suddenly taken an interest in everything she does, and their timing couldn’t be worse. Sasha’s father wants her to become BFFs with snooty Alyssa Turner, who hates Krystal for stealing her boyfriend. Then there’s Antoine Watson, the boy Sasha has liked forever, the boy her parents would never approve of. But with the dark side getting more dangerous by the day, and the Mystyx’s own powers growing in unexpected ways, Sasha is facing choices that could affect her friends, her love life—and even her destiny…

(Book synopsis provided by goodreads.com)

In the second Mystyx book, we get to know a bit more about our friends. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book, but I gave this one a try. I found it to be much better. The narrator voice seemed much stronger in this one.
One thing I really liked was how much growth we can see in the world from one book to the next. The author’s voice is growing and it seemed to me to be much stronger then in the first one. Which is always a great thing to see. I love seeing an author’s voice get stronger from one book to the next. It shows me as a reader that their world and characters have a lot more to offer that we have not seen yet.

Sasha’s relationships with her fellow Mystyx seemed more real in this one then the Mystyx relationships in the previous book. I enjoyed the story line of her love interest and it was a believable one. It reminded me of a friend’s relationship in high school.

I do wish that there had more to the story. I felt it was a bit on the short side and I felt that I was left with more questions then I had answers, which is a letdown for me. I found myself frustrated with the ending, because it was short. But I know that no book will ever answer all the questions fans have. I would recommend reading this book, even if you didn’t like the first one, this was miles better.

Over all rating:
***3 out of 5 stars. Go out and get a copy (in a legal way of course) and read it!

Cover art:
I found the cover art to be like the book a fun airy feel.

Obtained: I obtained an ARC through the publisher via Netgalley. Thank you!
