Bibi feels out of place everywhere - everywhere that is, except for Tyme's End, the deserted house that she breaks into when she thinks nobody is nearby. There she unexpectedly meets Oliver Gardner, the owner of the house, who's just returned after ten years away. Their story and the story of Oliver's grandfather become inextricably entwined, linked as they are by Tyme's End itself. For Tyme's End is more than just a deserted house. It is a house that by turns can be romantic, beguiling, sinister and malevolent. It is a house that had a cruel and manipulative owner. And anybody who enters Tyme's End must prepare themselves for terror... Part mystery, part psychological thriller, set in the present yet with forays into the past, this is a cleverly ambitious novel that makes for a compulsive and gripping read.… (meer)

Tyme's End is written in 3 parts starting in 2006, then going back to 1996, then back further to 1936.
The first part begins with Bibi, an ungrateful 16 year old, who feels she doesn't belong anywhere, except the abandoned Tyme's End. Here Bibi meets Oliver, the current owner of the house. Oliver doesn't want to be at Tyme's End but like Bibi is drawn there.
The second part of the book centers around a 17 year old Oliver, living with his grandfather. After an upset with his grandfather, Oliver finds the key to Tyme's End in his study and feels he has to go there. The 3rd part is centred around Oliver's Grandfather (also called Oliver) and his meeting H J Martin, and his time at Tyme's End.
Tyme's End originally belonged to H J Martin, who made me think Lawrence of Arabia! Martin had war service in Arabia, and was killed while riding a motorcycle.

It's in the 2nd and 3rd parts are where the mystery surrounding the house unfolds, one minute it seems like a warm and welcoming home, and the next an evil sinister house. This wasn't a book that had me gripped to every page but in parts it did, I especially loved the descriptions of what young Oliver was feeling whilst at Tyme's End as a 17 year old, very sinister!
I found it an enjoyable read, with like able characters, thought I didn't warm to Bibi to begin with, ungrateful little madam! There are quite a few twists in the book, making you think it's panning out one way, but ends up the other! ( )
