This is one of the best interior design books I have read. The rooms photographed are lovely and inspiring but usually also comfortable looking and realistic for the ordinary person. Not all styles are covered (and it's clear that authors Becker and Copestick have a particular aesthetic that appeals to them most), but many styles are, from natural to eclectic to midcentury modern. And the book is also packed with many helpful tips and useful information for anyone working on their home, whether the entire house or a single room - from the bathroom to children's bedrooms. Both a useful and inspiring book - recommended. ( )

Yes, it was enjoyable to see the lovely interiors and ideas in this book; however, I was annoyed at this opening remark: "Rather than concentrating on one trademark look or a particular design aesthetic, we have concentrated on ideas..." Interesting, considering every single photo features white walls and an eclectic design style- a blend of furnishings and decor items of different eras and styles. Why not just call the book what it is? Why pretend its diverse when it isn't? I am left feeling annoyed and cheated, and wondering if the author really thinks she has shown us a variety of aesthetics. ( )

Can't tell if I couldn't care less about decorating at the moment, or if I couldn't care less about this book about decorating.... ( )
