It was interesting to feel emotions through the characters' eyes and heart. (you will see when you read it) The Authors' notes after the end of the story were heartfelt and very human. We all need to recognize one another and congratulate on our talents and strengths. The premise of this book was both interesting and compelling; who wouldn't want to read about a mob man who wants redemption? However...the premise of the book was where the interest stopped for me. It became very preachy, very much a religion based novella instead of anything else. Religion has its place in novels, but I am not a fan of the ones that shove the religion down your throat and make you feel like the scum of the earth. So, for me, this gets one star. I think this is my favorite so far in the "accidental" series of short stories by Joshua Graham. The story is dramatic and the principal character "Big Pete" is deftly drawn. The story hooks you immediately. "Criminal repents" is a familiar trope and for it to work the author needs to make you believe - both that the criminal was indeed bad and that they truly became good. Graham does both convincingly. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
